Scared, Cold, in pain, the dust hasn't settled yet.

Pinned in, crying, my clothes are ripped, red and wet. I hurt

Lights, Noise, and confusion, are all part of the night.

Am I going to die alone? What if I give up the fight ?

I hear Sirens ringing, Red Lights are Flashing

A face appears at my window ..... the face is YOU

"You're gonna be all right !" is the first thing you say.

A reassuring voice, someone wants me to stay.

You could have been home with the family, they NEED you too.

You worked ALL DAY at your FULL TIME JOB, your sleeping hours numbered "two"

But as the pager activated in the night, you hoped your family was alright.

Now your here with Me and Death, with comforting words to say.

No time for Yourself, No thought for your safety.

Later you may think .... Was your decision too hasty ?

"Get the Jaws !!" Watch that gas !! " Keep the People Away !!

As You lie in Wait, the Rescue Crew takes the Roof

You Stood in glass, looked in my window, helped me calm my fear

I look back at you knowing, your voice may be the last that I hear.

I fade away as you hold me, while you hold back your tears.

THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE, YOU BRAVE EMS VOLUNTEER
